On Thursday 28th August 2025, 9am to 4pm at St John's Rooms, 112 Waterwalk Road, Greymouth. Dr Annette Beautrais will be holding a workshop for professionals to explore Risk Assessment and Management in Family Violence.

This day-long workshop aims to equip professionals in understanding and managing risks, safety assessments, appropriate responses and interventions when suicide risks exist at the same time as family violence. Training is based on current best practice principles and based on evidence.

Dr Beautrais has a broad background in health and mental health research with specific expertise and experience in suicide research and prevention. She has conducted multiple New Zealand and international research studies and published extensively about suicide and suicide prevention. She is Suicide Prevention Senior Advisor for Health NZ (Te Wai Pounamu) and Suicide Prevention/Postvention Co-ordinator for Health NZ South Canterbury. She has been a member of weekly ISR meetings in Canterbury to provide insight into the link between family violence and suicide risk.
